11:39 am I saw this test at another blog....I think the results are me ;)
Pure Nerd 69 % Nerd, 21% Geek, 43% Dork |
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
Congratulations!
Also, you might want to check out some of my other tests if you're interested in any of the following:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Professional Wrestling
Love & Sexuality
America/Politics
Thanks Again! -- THE NERD? GEEK? OR DORK? TEST |
|
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 67% on nerdiness |
|
You scored higher than 32% on geekosity |
|
You scored higher than 79% on dork points |

06:50 am - My Christmas Carol
You are 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing'. You take Christmas very seriously. For you, it is a religious festival, celebrating the birth of the Saviour, and its current secularisation really irritates you. You enjoy the period of Advent leading up to Christmas, and attend any local carol services you can find, as well as the more contemplative Advent church services each Sunday. You may be involved in Christmas food collections or similar charity work. The midnight service at your church, with candles and carols, is one you look forward to all year, and you also look forward to the family get together on Christmas Day.
What Christmas Carol are you? brought to you by Quizilla
Thanks Doogers for this quiz....

07:47 am - Quilt A Palooza 07:24 am - Quilt A Palooza
I am home! Only one library needed to call me while I was on vacation. It was for something very minor and for something that was working!
I had fun forgetting about computers for a whole week ;)
I had two classes at quilt camp. Each one was two days.
Tennessee Waltz - this is one of the projects that I worked on. I never go here to finish anything, I do the finishing later at home. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_qlt/article/0,1805,HGTV_3876_3108510,00.html
The other quilt I worked on was a "slash and sew" crazy quilt. http://kcprojectlinus.home.att.net/_stackslash.html
I had a great time and I enjoy talking to people about my mom ;)
Mom had attended these for about 13 years before she became too ill to go. I go each with my aunt and her friend.
Well back to work ;) Current Mood: cheerful

07:16 am - Quilting!!! Vacation!! Hey its Saturday morning, I have the house to myself until my Aunt and Uncle come around lunch time...
I should:
Make lunch.
Pick more tomatoes from the garden to puree and freeze.
Go buy apples to dry.
Do laundry.
Work on the drywall in the landing.
Do dishes.
Turn off the laptop.
Or go into the sewing room and find things for my quilt camp trip.....
I have to pick out material for my two classes. Each class is all day for 2 days.
Quilt camp consists of a week of classes in West Virginia. My mom went here for years and years ...15? 17? I was never able to go with her -either babies, no money or finally money and no vacation...
Now I have money and vacation ;)

What to do...what to do...
Lunch, tomatoes and I guess I will choose material from my stash for the projects...
Off to start lunch...

09:36 am - I finally own one...... I have always appreciated sturdy appliances in the kitchen. I purchased a nice sunbeam mixer/food processor/blender combo right after I was married. Things happened to this. One part of the food processor snapped when I was shredding cabbage for saurkraut. Other parts broke too. I couldn't get replacement parts - they stopped making the model. For about 10 years now I have either not had a mixer or have had just a little cheap one from the dollar store.
I have been conveting a Kitchenaid mixer for quite awhile. I knew which model I wanted - the 6 quart professional. I had an idea what the asking price was. Yesterday I finally decided to buy one. I came home from work to call stores in the mall to see if anyone in had the one I wanted. I was pretty sure Kitchen Collection didn't have it. They seemed to have a lot of refurbished ones and I was partial to a new one. Walmart and Kmart don't carry the model I wanted.
I called Sears first. They didn't have the biggest model. I called Dillard's next. I had seen Kitchenaid mixers on sale in their flyers, but never the model I wanted. The saleswoman was very nice, they had 2 left of my model. She mentioned that if I came in today, that the price would be 25% off the regular price. This was going to be a savings of about 93 dollars. This price turns out to be 5 dollars more than any price I had seen so far. The lowest price I had seen did not include shipping. She offered to put one aside for me. As for colors, she said they had a white one. This was good enough for me ;)
Have I used this yet? Nope, it is sitting in the recliner. I am just admiring it. I will be using it when I make Kolache for my family for Christmas. These Kolache look a bit bigger than our family makes, we do the same thing, only smaller. That way you can eat more flavors. I have made the mistake lately of only making one flavor at a time. I have come to realize this is a no-no. Many members of my family ask for the flavor I didn't make. I usually stick to apricot and poppyseed. I have made cheese and nut ones at times.
Kolache would be a Sunday supper in our family. Especially at my grandmother's. Even now the family gathers at my Great Aunt's on Sunday night for bakery and coffee.
We would make a large style one also, I called them Kolach. I am not sure of the correct Bohemian word. We would make a round cake pan lined with sweet dough, and layered with fresh peaches or prune plums. We sprinkled a crumb topping, and dabbed with butter. This was yummy. I really like it with prune plums, but I can't find anyplace to buy these anymore. They are not the Italian blue plums, these were smaller and sweeter.
I putting off my big weekend projects today, working upstairs sorting and straightening. I am slowly going through my accumulation of things, and I am making headway. It is time consuming and emotional at times - I have many things of my mom's to go through. Current Mood: satisfied

02:41 pm - Sparkling Glassware - now Hi,
I am finally posting again. I have been busy these past few weeks sorting through more of my mom's stuff. In September, I was able to finally empty out my storage unit. I now have a couple of more dressers and the china closet. The china closet is a bookcase from a lawyer's office that my mom purchased sometime before I was 5.
How do I know she bought this before I was 5? Because the year I was in kindergarten I was polishing the wood for her and fell and split my chin on it. My kindergarten picture has my bandage on my chin. I still have that scar. That scar is about 37 years old now ;)
So, anyhow I have been slowly pulling out mom's glassware collection. If it was pretty and old I think she collected it. She was always great at finding cheap and pretty things. She didn't collect things if the cost went up. She was the ultimate frugal person. At least I like to think that.
I have found some of the milk glass, some of the colored glass, some of the depression glass, some of the daffodil things, and lots of odds and ends. I haven't found the christmas dishes, or the egg cups, or other things.
I just wrapped and wrapped and wrapped and packed after she died. I packed everything away dusty. I am washing everything now. Now the glassware sparkles ;)
2 1/2 years after she died seems to be a nice time to go through her things. I can go through them without feeling the sense of loss I had earlier. I just put the things in the cabinet and remember the times we used the glassware.
Did I mention that this china closet is over 7 feet tall and about 5 feet wide? Yes, it is screwed to my wall.
Did I also mention that I will never have to buy another dish in life again? I plan on using some of these dishes - I have so many.
Maybe I need a nice picture of antique glassware here - I don't have one. Current Mood: cheerful

11:14 am - Daily Life This is my first entry. Not sure what to write about, except my life. Today I am home waiting on my van to be repaired.
I am pondering the purchase of a new dishwasher today. Mine is not very old, but it has broken again with in 6 months of the last repair. It is either a new one or find a better repairman. Current Mood: cheerful
